Drawing
On A Mother's Experience is a domestic parody of
action painting, using food, which tells the story
of Bobby Baker's first eight years of motherhood. She creates delicate
and calculated patterns on her canvas and then at key moments rubs our
noses in it. She steps on the blackcurrants, grinding them into the sheet;
she lies on the canvas, provoking a powerful image of immobilisation in
the midst of sanity-threatening chaos...
Drawing
On A Mother's Experience has toured worldwide and continues to
be as highly acclaimed as when first performed in 1988. It won the Dietz-Rose
Award, Theater der Welt Festival, Munich, Germany in 1993.
Co-directed by Polona Baloh Brown.
Length of show 1 hour. Video available.
